Switching devices just got easier. Our new device change process helps you get back to using Kuda with a quick face check, so you won’t need to wait in Safety Mode. Once we’ve confirmed it’s you, you can use your account on your new device right away.
Let’s Help You Verify Your New Device With A Face Check
We’ll guide you through a short video check to confirm it’s you signing in. Before you start, make sure your new device’s front camera works and find a place with good lighting so we can see your face clearly.
Open the latest version of the Kuda app on your new device.
Sign in with the email address and password you use for your Kuda account.
If you see Verify your new device, tap Verify Now to start the face check. You’ll record a short video of yourself rather than take a still selfie.
If your device asks for permission to use your camera, allow it to continue. Keep your face clearly visible in the front camera and follow the instructions on your screen, using your own face rather than a photo or a video you’ve already recorded.
After you’ve recorded the video, we’ll compare your face with the identity photo we have for your account. Follow any further instructions in the app while we confirm the result.
Once we’ve confirmed it’s you, you can use your account on your new device right away without waiting in Safety Mode. If your account is already in Safety Mode, this check won’t remove it, so follow the guidance below.
Frequently Asked Questions
Why do I need to verify my new device?
This check helps us confirm it’s really you signing in on a new device and keeps your account secure.
How can I get ready for the face check?
Make sure you’re connected to the internet and find a place with good lighting. Hold your device so your face is clearly visible in the front camera, then follow the instructions in the app.
Is the face check a photo or a video?
It’s a short video of your face, not a still photo. The app will guide you through what to do while you record.
What if I’ve blocked camera access?
Open your device’s settings, allow Kuda to use your camera, then return to the app to try again. If you need help changing the permission, please reach out to us at [email protected].
Do I need my old device for the face check?
You’ll complete the face check on your new device, so you won’t need your old one for the check. If you can’t sign in because your passkey is on a device you no longer have access to, you’ll need help with passkey recovery first.
Can someone else complete the face check for me?
You’ll need to complete the check yourself because we compare your face with the identity photo on your account. If you’re unable to complete it, please reach out to us at [email protected] so we can help.
What if my face check doesn’t work?
You’ve got up to three attempts in total. If we can’t match your face after all three, tap Contact support on the verification screen so we can help.
Only a face check that doesn’t match your identity photo uses an attempt. Closing the app or signing out won’t use one.
What if my camera isn’t working?
You’ll need a working front camera to complete the face check. Try signing in on a device with a working front camera, or reach out to us for help.
What if I see an error?
If a connection or app problem stops you from completing the check, reach out to us for help. This won’t count as a failed face match.
Why am I being asked for a code instead?
If we don’t have an identity photo for your account, we’ll ask you to verify with a code you can use once instead. Follow the instructions in the app to continue.
Will I still need to wait in Safety Mode?
Once you’ve verified your new device with the face check, you can use your account without waiting in Safety Mode. If your account is already in Safety Mode, the check won’t remove it, so follow the existing instructions or reach out to us for help.
Why can’t I see the face check?
We’re introducing our new device change process in stages, so it isn’t available to everyone yet. Keep your app up to date and follow the instructions you see when you sign in.
What if I can’t access the device with my passkey?
Our new device change process doesn’t replace passkey recovery. If you can’t sign in because you no longer have access to the device with your passkey, please email us at [email protected] so we can help.
